Grey's Anatomy 10x19 I'm Winning review

I'm Winning is the 19th episode of Grey's Anatomy season 10. Just a so-so episode, in my opinion, nothing really stood out, no really interesting plot event occurred.

--- SPOILER ALERT ---

The episode opened with Cristina Yang getting a nomination for the Harper Avery award, which was the most prestigious award in the land for surgeons. I say, ABOUT TIME, Shonda. I mean really, if anyone from Grey Sloan Memorial should win The Harper Avery, it's Cristina Yang. No doubt.

Plus it's also Sandra Oh's last season on Grey's so, yeah, perhaps the award will be a great farewell party to my most favorite character ever on this show.

Throughout the episode, it was shown that Cristina was not really hyped about the nomination. BUT, at the end of the episode we heard Meredith's monologue about when her mom (Ellis Grey) won the award, how Ellis didn't expect her winning at all, or more exactly "She hadn't allowed herself to imagine the possibility of winning because she wanted it too much."

A few moments after that, Owen told Cristina that he thought she's going to win, to which Cristina responded,

Cristina also believed that she would win, meaning she was being the exact opposite of Ellis Grey. Is this foreshadowing the possibility of Cristina not winning the award? Can't wait to find out. Tbh, I'm more excited about this story line, compare to all other medical advancement the other surgeons are working on, haha.

Speaking of other surgeons, to be honest their stories didn't really interest me so I'll just go through it quickly.

Derek and Callie's brain sensor project, they were working with a new fancy machine that could scan someone's emotional reaction in brain. This lead to the revelation that Callie wanted another baby with Arizona and that's super cute.

Bailey was still dealing with the kid with immuno compromised condition, and she was getting stuck on her research since the kid's T Cell level count was still 0. So basically Bailey spent almost the whole episode being pissed off and brooding. PLUS, she got jealous with Cristina's nomination.

HOWEVER, later Dr Webber mentioned stuffs about HIV to Bailey which inspired her to actually use deactivated HIV virus since the virus carries T cells, which were needed by her patient. I guess viewers will be seeing a lot more about this in the upcoming episodes because this sounds like a huge thing.

Talking about jealous, turned out Meredith Grey was also jealous of Cristina. In fact, she threw the champagne toast to cover up her jealousy. COME ON MER. I mean yeah understandable, BUT STILL, you guys are twisted sisters. COME ON.

Different stuff was going on for Alex Karev. We know in the previous episode that he was dealing with loans and debts, and he got offered for a private practice, which would make more money. At the end of the episode, Alex seemed to have agreed to that offer. Does this mean that Alex will be leaving the hospital? But I haven't heard any rumors about Justin Chamber leaving the show, so maybe something will work out? Idk, we'll see I guess.

As for the interns, I don't really care so yeah not gonna talk about it.

--- SPOILER ENDS ---

There are only, what, 5 or 6 episodes left for this season and still no end-of-season hype from this show. Is it only me or is this season a bit flat

I give this episode 2.5/5 noise. Pretty boring. Like I said, nothing stood out, except for Cristina's nomination.
